Things Learned - Summer

Fri Sep 1, 2006, 7:33 PM
Well, at last I am here again at the journal screen. And I honestly wanted to add my two cents on the last few months. As you may have already known I am about to start my 3rd and perhaps final year at George Brown College in the Graphic Design program. I say may because I am going to be graduating with a major in Coporate Design.... at first I was going to be graduating with a major in Advertising. But with conflicts with class times I zigged when I would have zagged. :P

So now I am going to think about going back after I graduate and grab myself another major in a half year span. I believe it to be a valuable tribute to my personal education as well as a nice little thing to have when going into agencies looking for work.

But back to what I learned. Well I have learned that working with a company for 6 years and having complete loyality to them will not get you anything when they decide to cut people. SO in the end I was kicked out on my ass without any notice and had to run around looking for some work. I didnt get anything substancial so I settled with some freelance work for some freinds and family friends. That got me through the summer without too much struggle with the bills and such. SO I LEARNED WHEN LIFE THROWS YOU A CURB BALL... Yell practise swing!.... lol naa just dust yourself off and get back into the batting stance and swing away.

Another little tid bit I learned is that friends can come and go like a leaf in the breeze. Its astonding to see this happen when things in peoples lifes get a little windy. But in the end I made a few new friends and perhaps something more then friendship. I lost some friends and others I never even talked too. Which was weird cause when we are in college and working with one another in assignments and projects we cannot get anough conversation in to please either.

Well thats some small things I observed in my few months off college, and to be honest I cannot wait to get back into the work. I just want to get my education finished and start working to begin a whole new life. Bah... well we will just have to see and hope :)

Best of luck to all you people out there reading and I wish you a good week.

Peace, keep partying and have fun.
